The cost of manufacturing custom hoodies depends on four things: fabric weight and composition, the decoration method, order quantity, and packaging. A heavyweight 400 GSM embroidered hoodie costs more per unit than a lightweight 280 GSM printed one — and a 500-piece order costs less per hoodie than a 50-piece run. There is no single price; here is what moves it.
What drives the cost
- 1. Fabric. The single biggest factor. Heavier fleece (320–400 GSM) uses more material and costs more than lighter French terry (240–300 GSM). Cotton-poly blends sit in the middle; full polyester is typically the most economical.
- 2. Decoration. Left-chest embroidery is priced by stitch count; large back screen prints by number of colors; puff print and appliqué add specialty steps. Combining methods (e.g. embroidery + print) adds cost per garment.
- 3. Order quantity. This is where unit cost drops fastest. Our MOQ is just 10 pieces per design — and at 200+ pieces the per-unit cost falls noticeably because setup, sampling and cutting are spread across more units.
- 4. Trims and packaging. Woven labels, hang tags, custom poly bags and boxes are small per-unit costs that add up — worth it for retail-ready private label.
